Bright red for Valentine's Day

Our ward threw an amazing Valentine's party- dinner at Ruby River Steakhouse with dancing and a contest for the most romantic proposal story. Anyone who thought their proposal story fit for the competition submitted it in writing ahead of time. Trevor thought it would be funny to submit a made-up proposal story (an obviously made-up proposal story) and I thought it would be funny to submit the truth (and make it sound pretty pitiful). We were both thoroughly embarrassed when they read both of ours out loud. (No, we didn't win.) I thought I would share the love:

Trevor: Here's my version--if Emily's version is different (more boring), believe mine.
On Valentine's Day, which happened to fall on June 1st (Emily's birthday), I took her to the Cinderella Castle at Disneyland. She was totally unsuspecting, and I swooped her off her feet and up the spiral staircase to the highest spire, where I had hidden her 7 carat diamond ring at the top. I had hired Whitney Houston to be up there, and she was singing "I Will Always Love You" with choreographed fireworks. It was pretty much the best. She said yes.

Emily: Walmart ring in the driveway.

Despite the embarrassment, we had a really good Valentine's Day.
